Bangladesh won the series against Pakistan today (September 3) and England defeated Sri Lanka on Sunday (September 1) - here’s what the World Test Championship table looks like after the results.

The England-Sri Lanka Test at Lord’s ended within four days as the hosts won by a huge margin of 190 runs. Batting first, England posted 427, with Gus Atkinson scoring a hundred at No.8. They took a 231-run lead after bowling out Sri Lanka for 196 in their first innings. England set their opposition a target of 482, which proved to be a steep chase for the Dhananjaya de Silva-led side.

England won the series 2-0, with the third match scheduled from September 6 at The Oval.

In Rawalpindi, the Test match ended with a memorable series win for Bangladesh. Set a target of 185 for a win, Bangladesh won by six wickets to register their first series win against Pakistan. It was also Bangladesh’s first away Test series win since 2021 when they won in Zimbabwe.

Updated WTC points table: Bangladesh overtake England

The pair of results have caused significant changes in the WTC table. Bangladesh have overtaken England at No.4 with the win, and are behind India, Australia and New Zealand in the table. They have a PCT (percentage points won per contested) of 45.83%, slightly higher than England's currently.

Pakistan remain in the eighth spot, just above West Indies in the table. Their PCT dropped with the series defeat and is now below 20, at 19.05%.

England pulled up their PCT from 41.07% to 45% with the win. They are currently in the fifth place, a spot above Sri Lanka.
