Watch: Shan Masood was caught fuming in the dressing room after being dismissed controversially against Bangladesh

Watch: Pakistan skipper Shan Masood was caught fuming in the dressing room after being dismissed controversially during the first Test against Bangladesh, with the umpires ruling him caught behind despite the UltraEdge showing spikes after the ball passed the bat.

Pakistan were sent in to bat first in Rawalpindi by Bangladesh, a decision that worked out brilliantly for the visitors. They dismissed Abdullah Shafique in just the fourth over and then got the wicket of Masood for six three overs later.

The dismissal, however, left the batter infuriated after a contentious moment involving UltraEdge panned out. On the fifth ball by Shoriful Islam, Masood got forward to defend the back-of-a-length delivery. The ball nipped back in and was close to the bat as it passed behind to the keeper Litton Das, who held onto the catch.

The Bangladesh team immediately went up in appeal, but the on-field umpire ruled it not out. Skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto signalled for the DRS and the UltraEdge showed that there was a straight line when the ball was close to the bat. However, a frame later, when the ball had passed the bat, there was a spike. Visuals showed a clear gap between the bat and the ball but UltraEdge suggested otherwise, and the TV umpire Michael Gough declared Masood out.

What made the decision even more bizarre was that Gough was heard saying the spike was a frame after the ball had passed Masood's bat.

An infuriated Masood had to walk back for six and was seen sitting in the dressing room with his helmet and pads still on even after a few deliveries following his dismissal. When the TV flashed his dismissal again, Masood bounced up from his chair and started pointing at the screen seemingly to suggest the spikes came up a frame after it passed the bat.
