Pakistan have dropped down to No.8 in the latest ICC Men’s Test Team rankings, stumbling two places after their series whitewash against Bangladesh.
Pakistan lost the Test series to Bangladesh 2-0 on Tuesday (September 3), making it the first time they have lost a Test series against them. The whitewash has pushed them down to No.8 in the ICC team rankings, down from the No.6 spot they occupied before the series began.
Pakistan's lowest Test ratings since 1965
Shan Masood’s team now have 76 rating points, the lowest they have had in the Test rankings since 1965. Courtesy of Pakistan falling in the rankings, Sri Lanka and West Indies gained one place respectively, and are now sixth and seventh.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, gained 13 rating points but maintained their position at No.9, with the chart being led by Australia, followed by India.

Pakistan have now gone 10 Tests at home without a win. The last time they won a five-day game on home shores was in February 2021, when they defeated South Africa.
Where are Pakistan in the WTC?
Pakistan’s chances of making it into the World Test Championship final seem unrealistic after they slipped to No.8 in the table after the loss to Bangladesh.
Ahead of the series, Pakistan were placed sixth in the WTC table, with a points percentage of 36.66 per cent. The task ahead of them was simple - win as many games as they could to stand a chance to make the summit clash, scheduled for June 2025 in Lord’s.
However, the twin defeats have proved disastrous for them in that aspect. Not only have they slipped down to No.8 in the table, their points percentage have dropped below 20 per cent, to 19.95 per cent. They have won just two of their seven games in the 2023-25 cycle of the WTC, with five defeats.
Only West Indies, with a points percentage of 18.75, are lower than Pakistan in the table.
