Pakistan have gone with an all-pace attack for the first Test. Naseem Shah will make a comeback in the longest format after a year, owing to an injury sustained during last year's Asia Cup. Shan Masood will lead the side, with Saud Shakeel as his deputy.

Several Bangladesh regulars have also made a comeback, among whom are pacer Taskin Ahmed, Shakib Al Hasan and Shoriful Islam. Taskin last played a Test match in June 2023 to recover from a shoulder injury.
