New Zealand's players pose with the trophy after winning the Tri-Nation series final one-day international (ODI) cricket match between Pakistan and New Zealand at the National Stadium in Karachi on February 14, 2025

New Zealand defeated Pakistan by five wickets in the tri-nation series final in Karachi yesterday (February 14). Here's what their title-winning campaign has done to the ICC Men's ODI team rankings.

Chasing 243, New Zealand got over the line in just 45.2 overs with five wickets remaining. Daryl Mitchell (57) and captain Tom Latham, who has been battling a lean run of late, made 56, while Devon Conway (48), Kane Williamson (34) and Glenn Phillips (20 not out) had their fair share of contributions in the chasing team’s response.

However, the win was set up by the bowlers, with pacer Will O’Rourke being the wrecker-in-chief. He picked up 4-43 in 9.3 overs to restrict the hosts to a modest total. Captain Mitchell Santner and Michael Bracewell took two wickets each, while Nathan Smith and Jacob Duffy picked up one.

The match is a buildup to Champions Trophy 2025, which will start from February 19. The two teams will reconvene in the tournament opener at the same venue.
