Mohammad Amir lit up the start of Karachi Kings’ Pakistan Super League contest against Peshawar Zalmi by claiming the wickets of both Pakistan captain Babar Azam and exciting youngster Mohammad Haris in a sensational opening over.

Amir, who last played for Pakistan in August 2020, struck with the very first ball of the game trapping Haris in front, though the appeal was initially turned down by umpire Michael Gough. Peshawar’s No. 3, Saim Ayub, pinched a single off his first ball at the crease to leave Babar on strike against an on song Amir.

Babar defended his first two balls, both around off stump, before unleashing another full, in-swinger. This time Gough gave the batter out on the field and despite a review, Babar had to depart for a three-ball duck to leave his new side 1-2 in the first over.

Amir claimed his third wicket in his following, with Ayub finding the man at deep square leg to give Amir figures of 3-2 after 1.2 overs.
