Kamran Ghulam falls off a bouncer from Pat Cummins during the first ODI between Australia and Pakistan at the MCG.

Watch: Kamran Ghulam was bounced out by Pat Cummins a ball after he tried to mimic Steve Smith’s mannerisms during the first ODI between Australia and Pakistan in Melbourne.

After a memorable Test debut against England, Kamran made a return to the ODI side, having made his only appearance in the format as a concussion substitute in 2023 against New Zealand. However, he didn't have a fruitful comeback, as he perished cheaply to a snorter from Cummins.

Off the fifth ball of the 19th over with Pakistan at 70-3, Kamran defended a straight delivery on the front foot from Cummins, who bowled it full on off. Having done so, the batter imitated Smith’s idiosyncratic style of saying no to a run, shouting hilariously. Both Cummins and Ghulam shared a smile at it.

On the very next ball, the Australia captain bowled a steep bouncer clocked at 142.7 kmph, pushing Kamran on the backfoot. Having climbed onto him sharply, he tried to evade it awkwardly. The ball touched his gloves in the process, and he was caught behind for five runs.

Pakistan were all out for 203, with Mitchell Starc picking up 3-33. Starc became the fastest-ever to 100 ODI wickets in Australia, doing so in 54 innings.
