Derbyshire's Matthew Lamb lost his wicket — and his bat — in bizarre fashion in the One-Day Cup on Friday.

On Friday, Derbyshire's Matthew Lamb lost his wicket and his bat in the same delivery against Worcestershire, in the One-Day Cup.

At the County Ground in Derby, Worcestershire had chosen to field first in the league stage of the One-Day Cup. The hosts got off to a good start as Harry Came and Luis Reece put on 82 for the first wicket.

A mini-collapse brought No.5 Matthew Lamb to the crease in the 29th over, with the score reading 136-3. He made his way to 13 off 18 balls, before disaster struck.

Jack Home came steaming in to bowl the 34th over of the innings. Off the fourth delivery, Lamb took on the bowler, shuffling down the wicket. He tried to muscle Home over the onside, but mistimed his shot. Immediately after contact, Lamb's bat snapped in two, with the lower half flying off as the batter was left with little more than the handle in his hands.

To make matters worse for him, the ball had looped up to the fielder at mid-on, Hishaam Khan. In the space of a few seconds, Lamb had lost both his bat and his wicket, and was making his way back to the dressing room.

At the time of writing, Derbyshire had made their way to 192-7 in 41.4 overs, after opener Harry Came scored 71.
