Watch: Archie Vaughan, son of former England captain Michael, was run out for a diamond duck on his county debut for Somerset in the One Day Cup yesterday (July 26), when a deflection off the bowler's hand ricocheted onto the stumps at the non-striker's end.

The teenager was playing his first senior game for Somerset after signing his first professional contract with the county last month. Stepping out at No.5 after James Rew was out to the final ball of the 30th over, leaving Somerset 165-3 chasing 268, Vaughan was at the non-striker's end at the start of the 31st. He watched Andrew Umeed play out four dot balls before he drove at a straight ball from Charlie Stobo from the fifth.

The drive went along the ground straight down the pitch, with Stobo bending down in his follow through to try and stop it from going away to the boundary. However, he only managed to get his fingertips to the ball, which was hit so straight it went on to hit the stumps. Having backed up too far and with little time to react to the shot, Vaughan was caught out of his crease when the ball hit the stumps. He had to head back to the dressing room having not faced a ball.

While Vaughan's innings, or lack of, was personally disappointing, Somerset went on to chase down the runs and secure a win. Umeed went on to play a standout innings, finishing 114 not out, hitting the winning runs with three consecutive boundaries off Stobo.

Somerset will play their next fixture in the competition tomorrow (July 28), against Hampshire at the Utilita Bowl.
