Watch: Playing for Northamptonshire, Prithvi Shaw smashed 24 runs in an over to bludgeon his way to a 68-ball ton against Durham in the One-Day Cup on August 13.
Shaw has not played for India in nearly two years, but that does not seem to have dented his confidence. His blistering ton came on the back of his double-hundred against Somerset this week, when he destroyed numerous List A records with a 153-ball 244. Among other things, he became the fourth player to smash multiple List A double hundreds.
Today, he made mincemeat of a target of 199, Northants gunning down the runs with nearly half the overs to spare.
The highlight came in the 21st over, when Shaw decimated Scott Borthwick. He struck 24 runs, comprising two sixes and three fours off consecutive deliveries. He took his side over the line and remained unbeaten on 125 off 76 balls, and hit 15 fours and seven sixes.
Enjoying a short stint in England, Shaw sits at the top of the run-scoring chart in the One-Day Cup 2023. He has piled up 429 runs in four games at an astronomical average of 143 and a strike rate of 157.
Shaw now has 57.66 runs in List A cricket at a strike rate of 127. Of his 21 scores in excess of fifty, 10 have been hundreds – including two double tons.
