Both sides have locked horns in 79 ODIs so far, with England winning 41 times and New Zealand prevailing on 36 occasions. Meanwhile, one game ended in a tie and another without any results.

Their last meeting in the format took place two years ago, during the 2022 World Cup in New Zealand. Nat Sciver-Brunt starred for England with a 108-ball 61, helping them beat the hosts by just a wicket in a game which went down to the wire.

The tourists will enter the series high on confidence after a recent 4-1 T20I series victory over New Zealand. With 223 runs at 55.75 and 129.65, including a career-best 56-ball 91 in the second match, Maia Bouchier was adjudged the Player of the Series.
