The series began with the first T20I on March 14, held at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Led by Malki Madara’s 3/14, Sri Lanka made history by recording their first win against New Zealand away from home. Chamari Athapaththu led the run-chase for visitors with an unbeaten 64 as Sri Lanka won by seven wickets.

The second T20I will also be held at the same venue while the third match will be hosted at University Oval in Dunedin. The matches will begin at 10:15 AM local time (9:15 PM GMT/2:45 AM IST).

The hosts are missing wicket-keeper Izzy Gaze, seamer Hayley Jensen and batter Bella James who have been ruled out due to injury concerns. As a result, the White Ferns have called up wicketkeeper-batter Polly Inglis, left-arm seamer Bree Illing, and all-rounder Flora Devonshire as their replacements. Inglis and Illing featured in the first match while Flora is yet to make her international debut. Emma McLeod made her T20I debut in the first match.
Malki Madara made her debut for Sri Lanka Women in the first match and she had an immediate impact, taking three wickets for 14.
