Devon Conway and Kane Williamson of New Zealand run between the wickets during the ICC Men's T20 World Cup match between New Zealand and Afghanistan at Sheikh Zayed stadium on November 07, 2021 in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

New Zealand have announced their squad for the upcoming T20I and ODI series against Sri Lanka. Several key names are missing due to their commitments to franchise cricket.

Middle-order batter Bevon Jacobs has earned his maiden New Zealand call-up after being named in the squad for the three-match T20I home series against Sri Lanka. Jacobs’ selection comes nearly a month after he was sold to Mumbai Indians in the 2025 IPL auction. His impressive form as a finisher in the Super Smash last year, where he hit 134 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 188.73 earned him his maiden IPL contract.

Fast bowler Zakary Foulkes, wicketkeeper Mitchell Hay and batter Tim Robinson have been included in the T20I outfit. For the ODIs, Tom Latham, Will Young and pacer Will O’Rourke will join the squad later on. O’Rourke has been rested for the T20Is to manage his workload. Hay will cover wickets in the T20Is and will cover for Latham in the subsequent ODIs.

Notably, several senior players miss out as they will participate in various franchise competitions globally. Lockie Ferguson, Finn Allen, Adam Milne and Tim Seifert are busy playing the BBL, while Kane Williamson and Devon Conway are unavailable because of their commitments to the SA20, set to begin on January 9.

Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell and Matt Henry are back in the squad, having missed the recent limited-overs tour to Sri Lanka. Ben Sears and Kyle Jamieson remain unavailable due to their respective injuries.

The series will mark Mitchell Santner's maiden assignment as New Zealand’s full-time white-ball skipper after he took the reins from Williamson.
