When will the NZ vs SL 2025 ODIs be played?
The first ODI will be played on January 5 in Wellington followed by the second on January 8 in Hamilton and the third on January 11 in Auckland. The series opener will begin at 11:00 am local time, while the final two matches at 2:00 pm local time.
The hosts won the preceding T20Is. Sri Lanka, however, registered a consolation win in the last match riding on a record century from Kusal Perera.

Last year, among Full Members, Sri Lanka played the most number of ODIs (18), while New Zealand played the least (3) alongside India.
NZ vs SL 2025 ODIs: Team News
This will be Mitchell Santner’s first ODI assignment as New Zealand’s full-time white-ball captain. Kane Williamson and Devon Conway are two of the prominent names who will be unavailable due to their commitments to SA20. Having been rested for T20Is, fast bowler Will O’Rourke will join the squad along with Tom Latham, and Will Young.
Sri Lanka’s 17-member squad will be led by Charith Asalanka. The major takeaway is perhaps the return of Wanindu Hasaranga, who missed the last home series against the same opponents due to a hamstring injury. The tourists have also made three changes: Young pacer Eshan Malinga has earned a maiden call-up, while Lahiru Kumara and Nuwanidu Fernando have earned a recall.
