New Zealand won the first ODI of the series against Sri Lanka

New Zealand are 1-0 up in their ODI series against Sri Lanka, with two games still to play. Here's where you can watch the NZ v SL ODI series, with TV channel and live streaming details.

The hosts won the first match of the series in Wellington by nine wickets, with Will Young finishing the chase unbeaten on 90. Matt Henry took four wickets after Sri Lanka batted first and were bowled out for 178. The Black Caps reached their target in the 27th over of the innings, with Rachin Ravindra the only wicket to fall.

The win is even more impressive for New Zealand given the absence of some of their biggest names to T20 leagues. Lockie Ferguson, Finn Allen, Adam Milne and Tim Seifert are missing the series to play in the BBL, while Kane Williamson and Devon Conway have joined up with their SA20 squads. Ben Sears and Kyle Jamieson are also absent due to injuries. It's less than ideal preparation for the Champions Trophy, before which New Zealand only have a tri-series with Pakistan and South Africa to play.

For Sri Lanka, Lahiru Kumara was recalled to their ODI squad having last played a match in the format in March 2024. He replaced Dilshan Madushanka, while Sadeera Samarawickrama was dropped for Nuwanidu Fernando. Seam bowler Eshan Malinga made his debut in the first match of the series and conceded 41 runs in the five overs he bowled without taking a wicket.

The second match of the series will be played in Hamilton on Wednesday, January 8, while the final game will be played in Auckland on Saturday, January 11.
