Pakistan have been fined again for maintaining a slow over-rate, marking the fourth offence in their last five completed ODIs.

The most recent penalty came after the third and final ODI of the series against New Zealand in Mount Maunganui, where the visitors were found one over short of the required quota after time allowances were considered.

Match referee Jeff Crowe, from the Emirates ICC Elite Panel, imposed a five per cent fine on the players’ match fees in line with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct. The rule states that players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl within the allotted time.

This was the third successive game in the series where Pakistan were penalised for a slow over-rate. They were two overs short in the first ODI, following which the players were fined 10 per cent of their match fees, and one over short in the second. Skipper Mohammad Rizwan accepted the latest charge, which was brought by on-field umpires Chris Brown and Paul Reiffel.

Five ODIs, four over-rate penalties for Pakistan

The sanctions further added to the disappointing tour for Pakistan. After losing the T20I series 1-4, they failed to win a single game in the ODI series to extend their indifferent form across formats.

Pakistan's run of four over-rate sanctions in quick succession dates back to the opening match of the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy - also against New Zealand. With this latest fine, Pakistan have now been docked for over-rate offences in four consecutive ODIs against New Zealand.

The Pakistan players will now be in action in the PSL, which begins later this week.
