Pakistan ratings

Pakistan lost the five-match T20I series against New Zealand 1-4. Here are the team ratings for the Pakistan cricketers who played in the series.

Salman Ali Agha: 6/10

M: 5 | 167 runs at 41.75, SR 136, HS: 51*, 2 fifties | 1-0-13-0

Pakistan set a plethora of records in their chase of 205 in the third T20I, but it was the only time they reached 140 in that series. There were very few batting highs, but they included Salman’s two fifties and a 46.

Hasan Nawaz: 5/10

M: 5 | 106 runs at 26.50, SR 186, HS: 105*, 1 hundred

There are two ways to look at Nawaz in a campaign where his median and modal scores were both ducks. He was the first Full Member batter to score three ducks in a five-match bilateral men’s T20I series. But he also hit Pakistan’s fastest hundred and had the best strike rate for Pakistan in a five-match bilateral T20I series. For an uninhibited first-timer with big shoes to fill, we incline to go with the latter.

Abdul Samad: 2/10

M: 5 | 66 runs at 16.50, SR 114, HS: 44

That 30-ball 44 lifted Pakistan from 43-7 to 105 in the fourth match, but there was little else of note in the series.

Shadab Khan: 1/10

M: 5 | 58 runs at 14.50, SR 132, HS: 28 | 1 wicket at 143.00, Ec 11.00, BBI: 1-33

Much was expected of Shadab in a series where Pakistan missed two senior players, but he did little to live up to the expectations with the bat. With the ball, he was below par.

Shaheen Shah Afridi: 1/10

M: 4 | 29 runs at 14.50, SR 94, HS: 22* | 2 wickets at 66.50, Ec 10.23, BBI: 1-23

A forgettable series for Shaheen, who looked a shadow of the fast bowler for whom first-over strikes used to be a routine affair.

Khushdil Shah: 2/10

M: 4 | 40 runs at 13.33, SR 103, HS: 32 | 1 wicket at 46.00, Ec 9.20, BBI: 1-16

A few big hits but that was about it for Khushdil. His bowling added little wicket-taking value, but he was less expensive than most of his teammates.

Mohammad Haris: 2/10

M: 5 | 65 runs at 13.00, SR 118, HS: 41 | Ct: 4, St: 1

The 20-ball 41 in the third game was a superb innings, but Haris needed something more than that to make his series aggregate look good.

Irfan Khan: 1/10

M: 4 | 36 runs at 12.00, SR 116, HS: 24

For a brief period in the fourth T20I, Irfan seemed to be set for a significant innings. It did not last.

Omair Yousuf: 1/10

M: 1 | 7 runs at 7.00, SR 64, HS: 7

Struggled in his only game.

Usman Khan: 1/10

M: 1 | 7 runs at 7.00, SR 100, HS: 7

Read Omair above.

Haris Rauf: 8/10

M: 4 | 8 wickets at 12.25, Ec 7.53, BBI: 3-27

Pakistan’s best bowler in the series by some distance, Rauf had their most wickets, best economy, and the only two three-wicket hauls. The only thing he lacked was support at the other end.

Jahandad Khan: 1/10

M: 3 | 18 runs at 6.00, SR 86, HS: 17 | 1 wicket at 82.00, Ec 19.68, BBI: 1-23

The three lower-order failures were probably fine, but his bowling was too insipid to make an impact.

Abrar Ahmed: 3/10

M: 3 | 5 wickets at 19.80, Ec 10.80, BBI: 2-41

That economy rate was largely the product of a very high-scoring series, where Abrar was even summoned to open bowling. The numbers would have looked significantly better in other conditions.

Abbas Afridi: 3/10

M: 2 | 3 wickets at 20.67, Ec 10.62, BBI: 2-24

A couple of wickets in the third game followed by an ordinary outing in the fourth. Ordinary, but perhaps better than some of his teammates.

Sufiyan Muqeem: 5/10

M: 1 | 2 wickets at 3.00, Ec 3.00, BBI: 2-6

New Zealand needed 37 in 14 overs with eight wickets in hand the only time Muqeem came on to bowl. He did brilliantly, but it did not really matter.

Mohammad Ali: 1/10

M: 3 | 1 wicket at 86.00, Ec 12.28, BBI: 1-34

His only wicket was with a very good slower ball, but that was it.
