Pakistan bowlers Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi both suffered significant dips in the latest version of the ICC T20I rankings.
Shadab Khan, Shaheen Shah Afridi tumble down bowling rankings
Pakistan suffered back-to-back defeats against New Zealand in the five-match T20I series as New Zealand chased down 92 in 10.1 overs at Christchurch and 136 in 13.1 overs at Dunedin. Those results contributed to pushing the Pakistan pair of Shadab Khan and Shaheen Shah Afridi down the rankings.
Shadab went down 10 places, from 72nd to 82nd in his first two international appearances since the 2024 T20 World Cup. This is his lowest ranking since his fourth T20I, against West Indies in April 2017 – a steep drop for the former No.1-ranked bowler in this format.
Shaheen, meanwhile, went down six spots, from 23rd to 29th. Fast bowler Haris Rauf, meanwhile, rose by four spots after his 2-20 in the second T20I.
Black Caps batters receive boost
On the other side of the coin, New Zealand batters Tim Seifert and Finn Allen went up the rankings. Seifert hit 44 (29) and 45 (22) in the two matches, opening the innings. He is now ranked 13th in the world. Allen, his opening partner, moved up eight spots to No.18, after his scored 29* (17) and 38 (16).
New Zealand pacer Jacob Duffy also rose 23 spots to achieve a career-best ranking of 12th, and career-best rating of 639 points.
Travis Head, Akeal Hosein and Hardik Pandya remain the world's No.1 batter, bowler and all-rounder respectively.
