New Zealand will face Pakistan in an ODI series at home starting Saturday (March 29). Here are the updated ICC ODI team rankings before the ODIs.
This will be the first ODI series since the 2025 Champions Trophy. New Zealand ended their campaign as runners-up, losing to India by four wickets in the final. Pakistan, on the other hand, suffered an unceremonious group-stage exit as hosts, failing to win any of their three matches.
New Zealand enter the series high on confidence after a 4-1 victory in the preceding T20Is against Pakistan. Barring the third match, where Pakistan pulled off the joint-fastest 200-plus run chase in T20s in 16 overs, the tourists have looked flat throughout.
The hosts suffered a huge blow ahead of the series as captain Tom Latham was ruled out with a fractured right hand. Michael Bracewell, who led in the T20Is, will take over the captaincy, while Henry Nicholls earns a recall. For Pakistan, Mohammad Rizwan, who was dropped from the T20I squad, is set to return as captain.
