New Zealand beat Pakistan 3-0 in the three-match ODI series between the two sides. Here’s how the series results have affected the standings in the latest ICC ODI team rankings.
Pakistan’s wretched New Zealand tour ended with a three-match ODI series whitewash. In total, they lost seven out of eight matches, having already fallen 1-4 in the preceding T20Is.
Entering the series after an early Champions Trophy exit in a home tournament, Pakistan had hoped to turn things around. However, things took a drastic turn as all matches proved one-sided, going against them. In three run chases, they fell short of New Zealand’s targets by significant margins – losing the first, second, and third ODIs by 73, 84, and 43 runs respectively.
New Zealand’s hero of the series was seamer Ben Sears. After going wicketless in his first two ODIs, he claimed consecutive five-wicket hauls in the third and fourth matches, joining an elite club featuring legends like Waqar Younis and Mitchell Starc.
