Watch: Naseem Shah bowled Devon Conway with a scorching full-ball which ricocheted off his back foot to dismiss him for a golden duck during the first ODI between New Zealand and Pakistan.
The fast bowler had conceded a solitary run off the first five balls in the opening over of the match in Karachi, Finn Allen getting a single to put Conway on strike for the final delivery.
Looking to target the left-handed Conway’s stumps, Naseem bowled a full ball slightly on the leg side. Conway attempted to flick off his pads to get off the mark, but missed the ball that snaked around his front leg and hit his raised back leg, rebounding into the stumps and sending the zing bails up into the air. Naseem wheeled away in celebration and was engulfed by Mohammad Rizwan before the rest of his teammates congratulated him.
It was Devon Conway’s first duck in ODI cricket in his 13th appearance in the format. His last ODI fifty came in August 2022 before two lean bilateral series against Australia and India, he scored his only hundred in March 2021.
