Watch: Hasan Ali entertained everyone on his return to Test match cricket by executing an impressive cartwheel over the boundary rope, humorously running down the wicket at Tom Blundell and posing to show off his biceps.
The Pakistan pace-man clearly enjoyed his return to the Test side, despite his modest returns with the ball in a runfest second match in Karachi. After returning figures of 0-72 in New Zealand’s first innings, Hasan got his first Test wicket in six months when he dismissed Henry Nicholls for five with a short in the second innings.
With New Zealand piling on the runs to set up a declaration, Hasan put on a show by doing a cartwheel over the boundary rope as he walked off the field with the sub-fielder, prompting Urooj Mumtaz on commentary to say: “He’s quite an entertainer, isn’t he?”
Hasan followed up with a comical run at Blundell after the New Zealand wicketkeeper pulled away from the crease as Hasan was running in. The pacer followed up by hobbling down the wicket with a look of mock aggression at the batter before peeling away laughing as Blundell apologised.
In two further comedic moments, Hasan gestured to presumably the batter and struck a pose to show off his biceps and bent down to stare into the stump camera, enjoying a friendly chat with umpire Alex Wharf about the ball after presenting it to him.
Hasan finished the innings with figures of 1-39 after New Zealand declared late in the day on day four, setting Pakistan 319 to win. In the three overs Pakistan had to bat before the close of play New Zealand struck twice, Southee cleaning up Abdullah Shaffique with his second ball and Sodhi dismissing night-watch Mir Hamza to leave Pakistan 0-2 at the end of play.
