Watch: On a turning surface, Kuldeep Yadav bowled the dream left-arm wrist-spinner’s delivery to Daryl Mitchell, bowling the New Zealand batter between bat and pad in the second T20I.
The Black Caps had struggled to 46-3 as they neared the halfway stage of their innings, and their rebuilding job was set back by Kuldeep. Bowling from over the wicket, he angled the ball across the right-handed Mitchell and found significant dip and turn, with the delivery ripping off the surface to castle into the top of off stump.
“That’s a cracker,” said Danny Morrison on commentary. “What a beautiful piece of flight and deception from Kuldeep Yadav.”
“Daryl Mitchell had absolutely no clue,” added Shastri. “Excellent bowling. Quicker through the air and it’s come back a long, long way to castle the off stump.”
Mitchell’s expression seemed to suggest there was very little he could do. Kuldeep ended up conceding just 17 runs off his four overs.
New Zealand eventually set a target of 100 to win. India struggling against the touring spinners as well, eventually scraping through with one ball to spare.
