Watch: ‘No Marnus, it’s not out….’
In the midst of a run-laden Sheffield Shield match between Tasmania and Queensland, Australia Test No.3 and part-time leg-spinner Marnus Labuschagne launched into one of the more optimistic celebrappeals against Tasmania batter Lawrence Neil-Smith.
With Tasmania 280-3 at the time and desperation creeping into the Queensland attack, when Labuschagne struck Neil-Smith’s pad when he was on zero with a delivery that pitched comfortably outside leg-stump, it mattered little to the Queensland players and in particular Labuschagne, who launched into celebration as he ran down the wicket.
“He wasn’t appealing, he was celebrating… which will annoy the umpire”, noted the commentator.
“No Marnus, it’s not out”, he continued, “I mean you’re more than welcome to appeal, but don’t celebrate. Turn around and ask the question. It’s pitched outside leg stump. A bit cheeky.”
'No Marnus, it's not out' 🤣

With tongue firmly in cheek, David Warner mentioned on Twitter that he couldn’t believe that Labuschagne, known for his enthusiasm, would celebrate a potential wicket without properly appealing.
Tim Paine also chimed in at the expense of Labuschagne, whose behaviour previously attracted unwanted attention from Andrew Symonds and Shane Warne who were caught off-mic on Big Bash commentary referring to the Queenslander’s eccentric behaviour as “annoying“. With Labuschagne’s luck out, perhaps he should check out the list of best online casinos to improve his fortunes.
Tasmania eventually finished their innings 500-6 dec, with Neil-Smith being dismissed for 28. The final twist in the tail however was that on day two Neil-Smith would return the favour to Labuschagne as he clean bowled the Australian Test batter for 32. No need to appeal for that one…
