At long last, the Sheffield Shield 2020/21 is underway. The first round of matches got going in Adelaide, with Western Australia taking on South Australia, and Tasmania clashing with Queensland on Saturday, October 10.

It’s a season unlike any other, due to the complications caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. The first four rounds of the Sheffield Shield 2020/21 will be played in an Adelaide-based hubs, enabling the tournament to take place in bio-secure bubbles.

The remainder of the tournament will be played in 2021, with the likelihood of the Australian season extending as deep as April next year. These decisions will be reviewed as and when needed, Cricket Australia authorities have said, meaning if Covid-related complications rise, necessary revisions will be undertaken.

The Sheffield Shield 2020 matches will begin at 11am local time in Adelaide (00:00 GMT; 5.30am IST), and the fixtures for a total of 12 matches have been announced for the first four rounds.
