Daniel Hogg Durham debut

Watch: 19-year-old Durham seamer Daniel Hogg picked up a seven-wicket haul on first class debut against Nottinghamshire during his side's innings victory in Chester-le-Street today (August 25).

Nottinghamshire won the toss and elected to field first. They were made to regret decision as the Durham openers both struck centuries. Alex Lees made 145 off 275, while Ben McKinney was harsher on the Notts bowlers, scoring 121 off just 129 balls.

If two hundreds weren't enough, there was a third in the Durham innings as Ashton Turner, batting at No.5, made an unbeaten 114 to take them to 531-7, at which point they declared.

Neil Wagner was the star with the ball for Durham in the first innings, picking 4-68. Hogg, the tall, 19-year-old right-arm seamer making his first-class debut, picked the final Nottinghamshire wicket to fall to finish with figures of 1-34 as they were bowled out for 229.

Made to follow on, Notts fared slightly better, but not well enough to prevent an innings defeat. This time, Hogg shared the new ball with Ben Raine, and ripped through the Nottinghamshire lineup.

Hogg started off with the wicket of Haseeb Hameed, getting him to strangle a pull shot down the leg side. He then trapped Joe Clarke plumb in front for five. Jack Haynes and Matthew Montgomery stitched a 96-run fifth-wicket partnership before Hogg had both of them caught at slip with ball that nipped away at a good length.

Olly Stone and Lyndon James hung around a bit for the ninth wicket, but Hogg eventually wrapped up the tail, picking the last three wickets of the innings to finish with figures of 7-66 in 25 overs as Nottinghamshire were bundled out for 285, losing by an innings and 17 runs.
