Resuming on their overnight score of 203-7, Glamorgan were folded for 271, courtesy of Ben Sanderson’s 5-92.
Coming in to bowl the 63rd over, Sanderson removed a set Colin Ingram for 82 off 125 to hand the first blow of the morning, thanks to a one-handed stunner by Karun Nair at second slip.
Sanderson pitched the ball on a good length on the fourth stump, drawing an edge off Ingram’s bat as the southpaw tried to defend it. Nair reacted quickly at slip, stretching his right hand and plucking the ball in thin air, almost off the ground, to complete a spectacular grab. His teammates ran towards him to celebrate the dismissal.
Nair returned to represent Northamptonshire in 2024 after playing in the final three matches of Division 1 last year. However, Northants got relegated to Division 2 in the penultimate week of the 2023 season. Last year’s stint was a success for him, as he amassed 249 runs at 83 across three knocks with a best of 150.
