Watch: Jaydev Unadkat sent Sam Northeast's middle stump flying as Sussex bowled Glamorgan out for 186 on the first day of their penultimate County Championship game of the season, as the India bowler took 4-52.
Hunting confirmation of their promotion to Division One, Sussex ran riot at Hove against mid-tablers Glamorgan. Unadkat struck with his third ball of the day, getting Asa Tribe caught at short leg with a back of a length ball, before castling Northeast in his third over. The ball pitched on off stump on a full length and nipped back in between bat and pad, sending the middle stump flying out of the ground.
That wicket left Glamorgan 19-2 before the rest of the seamers joined the party. Henry Crocomb struck next, taking out Colin Ingram and Billy Root in consecutive overs, before Ben Kellaway nicked behind off Tom Clark. Despite Kiran Carlson reaching a half-century, he too was caught behind off Clark, with Chris Cooke bowled by Ollie Robinson 10 overs later.
With Glamorgan now eight down and having yet to breach 150, Unadkat came in to mop up the tail. Dan Douthwaite pushed at a ball well outside his off stump, through to John Simpson's gloves behind the wicket to become Unadkat's fourth victim. Andy Gorvin gave him four-for when he fished at a leg side ball and was given out by the umpire, Simpson again taking the catch.
Jack Carson bowled James Harris to complete the innings in 57.3 overs. Sussex made a strong start in reply, with openers Tom Haines and Daniel Hughes putting on 110 before Haines fell to Kellaway.
