India batter Sai Sudharshan is set to link up with Surrey for two County Championship games before playing Duleep Trophy 2024.

Sai Sudharsan will join the squad for tomorrow's (August 22) fixture against Lancashire at The Oval and next week's clash against Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge. A left-hand batter, Sai Sudharsan played for the club during their last championship match against Essex at The Oval in June, as well as represented them twice in September last year.

Sai Sudharsan was part of India’s new-look T20I squad that toured Zimbabwe following their T20 World Cup title in June. He played one out of the five fixtures, failing to open his account. He also impressed with two half-centuries in three ODIs against South Africa last December.

Sai Sudharsan had a breakthrough IPL season in 2024, emerging as the top run-scorer for Gujarat Titans with 527 runs, including a century and six fifties.

Sudharsan to feature in 2024 Duleep Trophy

Sai Sudharsan's county stint will be followed by his participation in the Duleep Trophy, scheduled to start India's domestic season on September 5. He is slotted in the India C team, captained by Ruturaj Gaikwad.

Several seniors will participate in this year’s Duleep Trophy as part of BCCI secretary Jay Shah’s directive to ensure the participation of centrally contracted players. However, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, R Ashwin and Jasprit Bumrah are among the few exceptions. India will host Bangladesh in a Test series from September 19, with everyone likely to feature apart from Bumrah, who will probably get a prolonged rest to be fresh for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy later this year.
