Watch: Umesh Yadav’s start to life in the County Championship got off to the perfect start as he clean bowled Worcestershire’s Taylor Cornall.
Umesh signed for Middlesex for the remainder of the 2022 season and is making his first appearance for the club in their Championship fixture against Worcestershire at Merchant Taylor’s School.
Umesh was signed as a replacement for Shaheen Shah Afridi and will be available for the club for the Seaxes’ final six Championship fixtures as well as the One Day Cup campaign.
Umesh, 34, has played 52 Tests for India with his stint for Middlesex getting off to an excellent start as he sent Cornall’s off stump cartwheeling in just his sixth over for his new club with a delivery that seamed in from a good length. The wicket reduced Worcestershire to 49-4 in reply to Middlesex’s first innings total of 188.
Worcestershire would end up being bowled out for 191, a three-run lead with Umesh finishing with figures of 14-1-46-1.
