Somerset captain Tom Abell was dismissed in comical circumstances as he failed to kick away a ball that was bouncing back onto his stumps.

Somerset were playing Hampshire in their Division One County Championship clash at Taunton and were 55-2 when the event happened.

Abell, who was on 6 off 25 at the time, played back to a Mohammad Abbas delivery and defended the ball into the ground only to see it bounce and spin back towards the stumps.

The ball initially looked as if it was going to miss the stumps, however on the second bounce it spun back towards the wicket prompting Abell to attempt to kick it away, only for him to miss the ball entirely and end up bowled.

Despite this comical dismissal, Abell has had a very successful start to the season, averaging over 50 with two centuries and two fifties to his name.
