Surrey batting all-rounder Ryan Patel had a moment to forget on the third day’s play between Surrey and Warwickshire at The Kia Oval.
Bowling in the 68th over of Warwickshire’s second innings, Patel delivered a full ball to the well-set Sam Hain that was driven straight back to the bowler. Patel swooped to pick up the ball and then attempted to throw it into the gloves of wicketkeeper Ben Foakes.
Patel got his throw all wrong and the ball instead sailed well over the head of Foakes for four overthrows, in a scene reminiscent of how Alastair Cook reached a Test hundred against Pakistan on the same ground 12 years ago.
You can watch the four overthrows below:
Have you ever seen a 4️⃣ like this before? 👀
