Watch: Shubman Gill was quick to showcase his off-side strokeplay on his County Championship debut for Glamorgan.
The India opener has signed for the final four matches of the county season and was on 2 off 3 balls in his maiden innings when he unfurled a drive through the covers to get his boundary count up and running at Sophia Gardens against Worcestershire.
From the very next ball, bowled by left-arm quick Ben Gibbon, Gill used the width on offer to once again smash the ball through the covers for four.
Gill also played a delectable on-drive, which shot just past the stumps at the non-striker’s end, with a trademark front-foot pull for six also making an appearance.
Gill, who entered this match with a booming first-class average of 53.27, has gone into his maiden county stint on the back of an excellent run of form for India’s ODI side.
In six ODIs across July and August, Gill hit 450 runs at an average of 112.5, bringing up three figures for the first time in international cricket against Zimbabwe in August.
