Watch: Mohammad Rizwan, who was making his County Championship debut for Sussex, took a couple of brilliant catches down the leg-side.
The Pakistan wicket-keeper didn’t take long to leave his mark on the County Championship as he made his Sussex debut. The first of Rizwan’s catches happened on the final ball of the 17th over. Derbyshire skipper Billy Godleman tried to help a back of a length delivery past the keeper. However, he could only manage a faint nick, with Rizwan moving to his right and collecting the edge smartly. On the fifth ball of the 25th over, Jamie Atkins bowled a slightly shorter delivery to Brooke Guest. The latter tried to pull it past Rizwan but could only manage an edge, with the Pakistan wicket-keeper diving to his left and completing the catch.
However, Rizwan’s catches were the only source of joy for Sussex on Day 1 as Pakistan batter Shan Masood starred for Derbyshire with a splendid century, which he later converted to a double.
