Watch: Matt Parkinson produced a sumptuous leg-spinning delivery to bowl Warwickshire captain Will Rhodes and knock back his middle and off stumps.
The dismissal occurred on the third ball of the 50th over. Warwickshire had just begun stitching together a decent fourth-wicket partnership, with Dom Sibley and Rhodes at the crease. Parkinson, though, had other ideas. He tossed up a length delivery outside off stump. Rhodes misread the length slightly and went deep into his crease, only to see the ball rip past his inside edge and smash into the top of middle and off stump.
Prior to that, Parkinson had accounted for Sam Hain, continuing his stellar form in this season’s County Championship. In the past few weeks, there have been clamours for the leg-spinner to be included in England’s Test side for the home series against New Zealand. If he keeps this up that first Test cap might not be very far away.
