India off-spinner Jayant Yadav took 5-90 in his second match for Warwickshire at Bristol during the 2022 County Championship.

In a quest to avoid relegation to Division 2, Warwickshire and Gloucestershire met in a must-win match at Bristol during the 2022 County Championship. Warwickshire won the toss and reached 255-8 by stumps on the first day before being bowled out for 274. Batting at No.6, their new recruitment Jayant Yadav made 17. In his first match of the summer, Jayant had scored 37 runs and returned match figures of 3-137.

Warwickshire hit back, reducing Gloucestershire to 30-2. Coming on first-change, Jayant then sent down 29.3 overs, bowling often in tandem with left-arm spinner Danny Briggs, to finish with 5-90. Warwickshire sneaked a 19-run lead.

Jayant first trapped opener Chris Dent leg-before for 23 with a quicker ball. Wicketkeeper James Bracey (5) played down the wrong line and was bowled through the gate. Gloucestershire captain Graeme van Buuren (32) went next, moving away to cut the ball, missing the line, and losing his wicket. David Payne (0) hit one back to Jayant, while Zafar Gohar (55) tried to reverse-sweep and was bowled in the process.
