Watch: Haris Rauf was at his lethal best in the 2022 County Championship clash between Yorkshire and Kent, with England Test opener Zak Crawley being one of his five victims in the first innings.
The Yorkshire quick, who had scalped nine wickets in two county matches prior to the game against Kent, displayed his skills yet again as he ripped out the top-order with some blistering pace bowling on Thursday before going on to complete his five-for. On day one, Rauf picked up three scalps within the space of nine deliveries after his side won the toss and decided to field first in overcast conditions.
His first victim was Ben Compton, who already has three centuries and an 89 this season, with the batter nicking a delivery that moved away. Crawley fell lbw to the bowler in the next over to continue his iffy form in the ongoing county season, which has seen him with four scores of under thirty in five innings. Just two balls later, Rauf picked up Kent skipper Jack Leaning to leave the side reeling at 20-3. Rauf picked up 3-8 in his new-ball burst in what was a fine morning for Pakistan bowlers in the competition.
Rauf returned on day two to pick up his second five-for in first-class cricket. He had Grant Stewart edge behind to the wicketkeeper behind and then picked up his five-wicket haul, dismissing Nathan Gilchrist with a searing yorker that went past his legs to dismantle the top of leg-stump.
Kent were all out for 291 in their first innings, with Daniel Bell-Drummond scoring 109 in 194 deliveries. Rauf ended with figures of 5-65 in 14 overs with a maiden.
