The ongoing competition, the 122nd of the edition, will award every team 16 points for a win, while both sides will get eight points each for a tie, or if a game is drawn. Points scored in the first innings are added as well. The first innings points are only awarded performances in the first 110 overs of every innings and are not dependent on the result of the game.

First Innings Batting Points

200 to 249 runs – 1 point

250 to 299 runs – 2 points

300 to 349 runs – 3 points

350 to 399 runs – 4 points

400 runs or over – 5 points

First Innings Bowling Points

3 to 5 wickets taken – 1 point

6 to 8 wickets taken – 2 points

9 to 10 wickets taken – 3 points

If both teams get equal points in a draw, the side that batted fourth scores eight points plus any points that they scored in the first innings, and the opposition scores eight points along with any that they make in the first innings.

The team that ends with the highest points in each division are named the County champions of that division.
