Tom Kohler-Cadmore brought up his first Somerset hundred in style, shuffling down the wicket to launch the first ball he faced on day three into the stands to reach the landmark.
Rain meant that play on day three at Taunton didn’t begin until 2pm with Kohler-Cadmore resuming proceedings on 95 not out. His teammate James Rew started the day on strike, taking a single from the second delivery of Jack White’s over.
Kohler-Cadmore wasted no time in reaching three figures, depositing White over the straight boundary to bring up his century off just 72 balls.
It was Kohler-Cadmore’s 11th first-class hundred and his first since moving to Taunton from Yorkshire. In a rain-affected match, Kohler-Cadmore’s quick-scoring gave Somerset a fighting chance to seal victory over Northamptonshire on the final day. Going into the current round of fixtures, Northants and Somerset were second bottom and bottom in the Division One table respectively.
