Watch: Steve Smith’s County Championship career continued to fizzle, with the Australia great pinned lbw by South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder for three.
The Australia great’s Sussex debut was greeted with much anticipation, but he has failed to fire in two innings so far. He has been dismissed lbw each time, falling for 30 against Worcestershire before making just a tenth of that score against Leicestershire.
There was a hint of misfortune about his first dismissal, and Smith looked unhappy with this decision too, staring at the umpire and gesturing with his arm as he walked off. The umpire’s finger remained raised for a long time, only falling after Smith finally began his trudge off the field.
The bowler was South Africa’s Wiaan Mulder, and despite Smith’s struggles, Sussex are in a strong position, building to 209-4.

Mulder gets Smith! The Australian survived a huge LBW shout from Scriven at the start of his innings, but he's sent on his way this time. A massive scalp. 💪
