Durham pocketed the County Championship Division Two title after bowling out Worcestershire on a rain-affected third day at New Road. Last week, the county side had ensured a Division One berth after their relegation in 2016 because of financial problems.

Scott Borthwick’s men started the game requiring five points to seal the No.1 spot. D’Oliveira became a thorn in the flesh with his 63 off 75 deliveries.

In came Parkinson to bowl and he weaved his magic, imparting vicious spin on this delivery. D’Oliveira got squared up trying to defend a ball that was pitched on the leg. The ball breached his defence, pegging back his off-stump. The 26-year-old tweaker took off in celebration.

Durham gained three bowling points when Ben Raine took the ninth wicket in the third over with the new ball. Four balls later, Raine took the final wicket, restricting Worcestershire to only two batting points out of five.
