Marnus Labuschagne struck a beautifully timed and executed cover drive and held the pose for good measure in today’s (May 6) County Championship Division Two game between Yorkshire and Glamorgan.

As Labuschagne walked out to the middle his side were in a relatively comfortable position with a first innings lead of 139 runs. However opener Andrew Salter had only added 15 runs to the total.

The Australian batter delivered more than what was needed for his side in the end. One of his first of many boundaries came from Mickey Edwards. The shot was emblematic of the innings to come from Labuschagne. The ball pitched on a good line and length for the batter as Edwards offered him too much width.

Labuschagne was able to use the full face of the bat as he pushed the ball through the covers for four runs, holding the pose with his bat aloft as the ball raced towards the boundary edge.

Before rain came, Glamorgan had reached a commanding position declaring on 352-4 thanks in large parts to Labuschagne’s undefeated 170. Runs also came from Sam Northeast and Billy Root.
