Watch: Pakistan quick Hassan Ali continued his fine showing with the bat in the 2023 County Championship with a whirlwind 35-ball half-century for Warwickshire against Nottinghamshire during their Division One fixture in Nottingham.
At Lunch on day two, Warwickshire had taken their first-innings total to a mammoth 524-7, with No.9 Hassan unbeaten on 54 off 35, alongside wicketkeeper Michael Burgess (50 off 76). Right after lunch, though, Hassan was dismissed by Calvin Harrison, bringing to an end a boundary-laden innings that included three fours and five sixes.
It was against Harrison that Hassan began his assault, hitting the second ball he faced for a six. There were four other hits over the fence, including the strike off Harrison that brought up his half-century off just 35 balls.
His 80-run stand with Burgess took Warwickshire comfortably past 500 and reaffirmed Hassan’s growing stature as a more-than-useful lower-order bat.
Last month, his 37-ball 53* for the County in the first innings helped them secure a four-wicket win against Essex in a low-scoring game. With the ball, he’s been as good as ever, and is currently their third-highest wicket-taker this Championship season, while also securing a hat-trick as part of a five-wicket haul for the Second XI.
