Hassan Ali clean bowled Haseeb Hameed with a prodigious in-swinger during Warwickshire’s 2023 County Championship clash with Nottinghamshire at Trent Bridge.
It was the latest contribution in what has already been an outstanding game for the Pakistan speedster. In the Warwickshire first innings, Hassan blasted a 36-ball 54 from No. 9 to help propel the title contenders to 571-9 declared.
He was then penetrative with the ball, taking 3-30 as Warwickshire skittled Nottinghamshire out for 155 to give the Bears a mammoth 416-run first innings lead.
Warwickshire, led by Will Rhodes, duly enforced the follow on but Nottinghamshire started their second innings more assuredly, reaching 61-0 with Hameed and Ben Slater at the crease. Hassan then took two wickets in three balls, first dismissing former England opener Hameed and then the highly rated young Notts No.3 Matt Montgomery lbw for a second-ball duck.
The ball to Hameed, whom Hassan had also dismissed in the first innings, was particularly good: it swung in to crash into the off stump after Hameed shouldered arms.
