The Kent vs Surrey match in round seven of Division One of the County Championship is heading towards a potentially thrilling finish. Batting first at their home ground, Kent scored 301 in the first innings, thanks largely to a rescue act by the lower order.

Jordan Cox scored 133 and was supported by Joey Evison and Wes Agar, both of whom scored fifties, to take the Kent past 300 after they were 41-5 at one stage.

In response, Surrey were bundled out for 145 after being 60-7. Arshdeep Singh, making his County Championship debut, had an economical start, not conceding a run off the bat from his first 30 balls.

The Kent top order put up a better show in the second innings. They managed to cross 300 again, setting a seemingly unreachable target of 501 for Surrey.

However, Surrey knocked off half of the runs for the loss of just three wickets by the end of Day three, setting up the game for a cracking finish on the final day.

Jamie Smith led the charge for Surrey as he scored a blistering 70-ball century at No.4. He took down Arshdeep in the process, scoring 20 runs off one of his overs, including two fours and two sixes, both of which came through powerful pull shots.

Smith was eventually dismissed by Arshdeep later in the innings for 114 off 77 balls.

Surrey ended Day 3 on 263-3 and will need another 238 runs on Day 4 with seven wickets in hand to script a memorable victory.
