Watch: Umesh Yadav struck two successive sixes off his first two deliveries during Essex’s 2023 County Championship clash against Hampshire at Chelmsford before being dismissed on the third delivery.
Walking in to bat at No.8 in the second innings, with the scorecard reading 131-6, Umesh wasted no time to get going, smashing the first two balls that he faced for two maximums before Liam Dawson had been caught on the third delivery.
Umesh struck the very first ball that he faced for a six over the bowler’s head and then hit the ball out of the park on the next delivery, to race away to 12 in two.
However, his blink-and-you-miss-it cameo ended on the very next ball, when Dawson switched to bowling over the wicket. Umesh looked to go for another big hit but it failed to clear the ropes. The ball settled safely into the hands of James Vince, as Essex fell to 149-7.

Essex are searching for victory to claim the advantage in the Division One title race. They declared their innings at 151-8, settling Hampshire a target of 267.
