Zaman Khan has previously played in the PSL, the Blast, The Hundred, the LPL, and for Pakistan, but BBL 13, the 2023 edition, marked his debut at the Big Bash League.

Introduced in the eighth over, Zaman conceded six singles before his skipper Chris Green then saved him for the death. Going into the final over of the innings, his figures stood at 0-24 from three overs.

On strike was Sam Billings, on 23 from 16 balls. He swung at the first ball and missed, but Zaman followed that with a wide down the leg side.

Billings gave himself room to smash the ball through the off side, but Zaman nailed the yorker to perfection. Hurled from a low release point, the ball crashed into the base of the stumps.

Two balls later, Zaman cleaned up Michael Neser. He finished with 2-31 and Tanveer Sangha with 3-21 in the Brisbane Heat innings of 151-7, buoyed by Colin Munro’s 33-ball 46.

From 51-2, Sydney Thunder then collapsed to 131 against Xavier Bartlett (3-35), Matthew Kuhnemann (2-18), Paul Walter (2-22), and Mitchell Swepson (2-26).
