Matt Renshaw and Kane Richardson were involved in an animated verbal exchange after the latter’s dismissal in the BBL.
With Melbourne Renegades down and out at 99-7 in the 17th over, chasing Adelaide Strikers’ 171-5, there was little no spark left in the contest. That was until Renshaw, stationed in the deep, and Kane Richardson, the No. 9 batsman for the Renegades, provided some of their own.
With the game effectively gone Richardson attempted a big heave off a full, wide Peter Siddle delivery off his second delivery at the crease, only skying it as far as Renshaw in the outfield. The tall Queenslander, having shelled one earlier in the innings before pouching another, completed his second catch of the evening and celebrated with aggression.
The gesture didn’t impress Richardson, who then walked towards the fielder. Renshaw, surrounded by his teammates carried on with the verbals and with Richardson continuing to respond before eventually walking back towards the dugout.

Earlier in the day, a pumped-up Richardson had plenty of words to offer to the Strikers’ batsmen, most notably after he dismissed Philip Salt, Renshaw’s opening partner in the fourth over of the game.
What’s Kane Richardson saying to Phil Salt here? 🤨 #BBL10 pic.twitter.com/g4GRSkVGFV

Kane Richardson gave Phil Salt a send-off at the start of the match. But he didn’t seem to like Salt having a word when he was dismissed, and the rest of the Adelaide lads gave KR a chirp too…
