Marnus Labuschagne made a brilliant save near the boundary rope for Brisbane Heat in their fixture against Melbourne Renegades.
Labuschagne’s return to T20 cricket after a hectic Test series has been eventful to say the least. After top-scoring for Brisbane with 28 off 25 balls in their massive loss to Adelaide Strikers, Labuschagne made a career-best T20 score of 49 in Saturday’s game against Melbourne Renegades.
However, the best moment of his game perhaps came in the field in the second innings. In the very first over of the run chase, Shaun Marsh flicked Xavier Bartlett past fine leg and the ball seemed to be headed for a boundary until Labuschagne made a diving stop.
The momentum threatened to carry Labuschagne past the ropes, but he swayed his legs away from the ropes twice, never brushing the rope itself, and made a spectacular save. Multiple replays confirmed that Labuschagne hadn’t made contact with the ropes. The outrageous effort saved Brisbane two runs.
