Sri Lanka will host Ireland for two Test matches starting April 16 – here’s where to watch Sri Lanka v Ireland live, including TV channels and live streaming services.
Ireland will play two Test matches against Sri Lanka in Galle, with the first one starting on April 16 and the second one starting on April 24. This will be Ireland’s first-ever Test assignment that isn’t a one-off Test. This tour was originally scheduled to have one Test and two ODIs, but it was later changed to have two Test matches on Sri Lanka Cricket’s (SLC) request.
Ireland are on an extended Asian tour, having just completed a three-ODI series, a three-T20I series, and a one-off Test against Bangladesh in Bangladesh. They did not have a great start to the Bangladesh tour but got better as the games progressed, winning the last T20I and coming back in the Test match to give a potential scare to the hosts.
They will be led by Andrew Balbirnie and have a good mix of youth and experience in their squad. Andy McBrine who took a six-wicket haul and Lorcan Tucker who scored a century batting at No.7 in the one-off Test against Bangladesh, will have a lot of expectations on them, so will the youngsters Harry Tector and Curtis Campher, who are supposed to carry the middle order for Ireland. Paul Stirling, the veteran opener, will join the squad for the second Test.
Sri Lanka on the other hand, will be led by Dimuth Karunaratne, in what can be his last assignment as Sri Lanka captain. They have dropped experienced wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella and will have either Nishan Madushka or Sadeera Samarawickrama don the gloves for them. There have been several other changes to the squad as well from the New Zealand series with fast bowlers Kasun Rajitha and Lahiru Kumara being rested and Lasith Embuldeniya earning a recall.
